The M36, a luxury daysailer from Morris Yachts and subject of Part II of Perspective New England , recently set sail off the coast of New England on its summer tour of regattas, boat shows and marine events. First stop: the 2014 Vineyard Cup, an annual sailing regatta in Vineyard Haven harbor on Martha’s Vineyard Island. With more than 100 sailboats of all designs and ages, from schooners to catboats to modern design racers, the Vineyard Cup tests the sailing skills of the skippers and crews who participate in three days of fun competition on the water.
Sailboats like the M36 wouldn’t be possible without craftspeople like those trained by the International Yacht Restoration School (IYRS), which held its annual summer gala in Newport, Rhode Island, as the M36 raced in the Vineyard Cup. IYRS is an internationally-recognized experiential learning institution that trains the next generation of makers, builders and restorers through its schools of boatbuilding and restoration, marine systems and composite technology. Through its training programs, IYRS strives to preserve the rich tradition of boatbuilding and craftsmanship in New England; the M36 and its beautiful and functional design is a striking example of this strong heritage.

But what happened when Sunbrella hit the pavement on a summer road trip across New England? Find out by watching the first two episodes of The Rhode Yacht, Part I of Perspective New England. And how will it hold up against two messy elementary-aged sisters and two lovable pups? See Sunbrella used throughout the home in The Beach House, Part III of Perspective New England.
