In the mid 20th century, luxurious resorts at Round Hill, Jamaica, attracted socialites, leading cultural figures and entertainers seeking an escape.

Interior Designer Lindsey Coral Harper tapped into the glamour of Round Hill in her Perspective Los Angeles vignette, creating a modern day interpretation chic and sophisticated cabanas found on the island.

Perspective Los Angeles is the second installment of a yearly design event showcasing luxurious Sunbrella® fabrics through the eyes of top interior designers.

For this transitional space, Harper recreated the cabana, using Natural – Sea from the Sunbrella Shade Collection and draperies lined with Oasis Awning Kiwi by Thibaut. This playful structure–complete with Sunbrella tassels–sets the scene for a glamorous, tropical destination, accented by an equally spirited chandelier underneath.

The blue/green color scheme continues with the upholstery and decorative pillows. Harper picks up the colorful stripe of Oasis Awning Kiwi again in two low, bamboo chairs. A coordinating bamboo sofa is done in plush Birds of Paradise Macaw by Holly Hunt with a white Sunbrella fringe – an unexpected and playful choice. Decorative pillows accent the sofa in three Robert Allen fabrics Dots Along – Turquoise, Heather Breeze – Fresh Grass and Heather Breeze – Turquoise.

“I really love the green fabric we used on our sofa…with a really fun cut fringe that is white, which with the way we reupholstered the cushions, gives it that throw back to the 60s era,” Harper said. “It’s very luxurious.”

In addition to fabric choices inspired by relaxed island lifestyles, Harper transforms the vignette into tropical paradise with accessories such as monkey statues, lanterns, gold-plated seashells and playing cards from the Beverly Hills Hotel. Lush palms and a large photo print centered on Bali Grass Conch by Holly Hunt upholstered walls are the finishing touches to this design.

All that’s left is to imagine a cool ocean breeze filling the space on a warm evening where cocktails and conversation are the only things on the agenda.
